Animatic for UTEP’s Texas Western Gold Rush Event Kickoff

I was commissioned by UTEP to develop the storyboard for an opening video created to kick off a new event called Texas Western Gold Rush. To help communicate the vision more effectively, I transformed the storyboard into an animatic, allowing the production team to establish timing, pacing, and shot composition before production began. The animatic is presented above, followed by the final video that was produced from those concepts and shown at the start of the event.

This final video was produced to generate excitement for UTEP’s Texas Western Gold Rush event. Seeing the project evolve from storyboard to animatic and ultimately to the finished production highlights the value of strong planning and visual storytelling throughout the creative process.

El Paso MADE Campaign

The concept of El Paso as a city of makers was initially introduced by an agency partner working with Destination El Paso. Building on that foundation, I helped develop, expand, and fully integrate the campaign into a flexible platform capable of supporting multiple organizational divisions, marketing pillars, and audience segments.

El Paso MADE is rooted in the city's long history of innovation, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and cultural creativity, an authentic story that had not been fully explored in previous destination marketing efforts. The campaign provides a versatile framework that can be adapted to a wide range of initiatives, including El Paso MADE for Outdoors, MADE for Adventure, MADE for Music, MADE for Meetings, and MADE with Sole, celebrating El Paso's designation as the Boot Capital of Texas.

The platform was also designed to engage the local community through extensions such as I AM El Paso MADE, highlighting artists and creators, and We Are El Paso MADE, recognizing locally owned businesses. Introduced in 2025, the campaign was intentionally built with long-term growth in mind, providing a scalable brand system that can continue evolving while maintaining a consistent and recognizable identity for the region.

The original mark shown above was later refined to align with leadership's vision for the campaign. The letterforms featured in the original concept were part of a custom typeface I began developing as an extension of the El Paso MADE brand system. The goal was to create an official El Paso MADE font that visitors, businesses, and community partners could download and use in support of the campaign. While the final version became the official mark, I believe these original letterforms best captured the spirit, personality, and flexibility of the concept.

Augmented Reality Destination El Paso Holiday Card

This Destination El Paso Holiday Card was designed to blend traditional print with emerging technology through the use of augmented reality. Using Adobe After Effects and the Artivive platform, I created an interactive experience that was activated when the printed card was viewed through a smartphone. The animation tracked seamlessly with the artwork, creating the illusion that the card had come to life and extending the experience beyond the printed piece.

Event Planning, Coordinating & Design

While at Immaculata University I was fortunate enough to be part of planning and designing event collateral for a Hollywood red carpet event celebrating the 40 year anniversary of the Mighty Macs women’s basketball team that won 3 back to back NCAA championship from 1972-1974. The Black Tie Gala was held at The Franklin Institute were the university premiered The Mighty Macs movie. From invitations to gift bags we produced a wide range of items to engage and connect with donors. I also had the opportunity to mingle with some Hollywood actors including Carla Gugino, David Boreanaz, Ellen Burstyn and Marley Shelton.

Alumni Magazine,
Editorial Re-design

I had the opportunity to lead the redesign of two alumni magazines during my career. At UTEP, I spearheaded the transformation of NOVA Magazine into UTEP Magazine, helping align the publication more closely with the university’s brand and expanding its visibility among a growing alumni audience nationwide. The redesign was embraced by university leadership and became a key component of the institution’s branding efforts.

At Immaculata University, I led a refresh of the alumni magazine, elevating its editorial design and visual storytelling. While the publication retained its name, the redesign helped transform a modest 12-page newsletter into a more polished and engaging magazine that better reflected the quality and depth of the university’s content.

Brochures, Mailers & Research Guides

Although I have produced numerous brochures and mailers, I wanted to keep this collection simple. When working at UTEP I worked very closely with writers and photographers to produce a pair of extremely thorough research guides as well as brochures promoting several programs. Then while at Immaculata University I had to keep the cost down while designing a calendar of events for the school’s symphony.

Packaging Design

Mini Coture:
Travel kit for baby maintenance on the go.

Green Clean Home:
Natural and organic cleaning supplies.

Website Design

I have worked closely with web developers throughout my career, gaining a strong understanding of web standards, user experience, information architecture, and front-end development principles. In 2006, I designed the visual interface for UTEP’s Glory Road website, commemorating the historic 1966 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship team. Later, in 2010, I served as art director for the visual aesthetic of Immaculata University’s website redesign and contributed to a variety of supporting web-based communication initiatives. These experiences provided valuable insight into the collaborative relationship between design and development, while also helping me build a foundational understanding of HTML, CSS, and modern web design practices.

Marketing Campaign
”What Makes Immaculata U?”

While at Immaculata University I helped develop a social media app, which was also a marketing campaign, that would give students a platform to express their voices and elaborate on their personal experiences on campus. Allowing students to express “what makes Immaculata U” would communicate the inclusive atmosphere of the university to other current or potential students.

Posters & Illustration

Illustration is an alternate passion. Although I am a traditional artist by nature, and capable of utilizing a plethora of mediums to achieve required effects, I find myself drawn to new and modern digital platforms. From iPad sketching on the go to bold vector graphic illustrations, I am constantly looking to discover new techniques to help communicate any given concept or idea. MORE
